while yoga can be an intense movement practice on its own, it can also be used as a bridge between stillness and more strenuous activity. here is a short chair yoga sequence that can be used to wake up the body.
the goal of this sequence is to warm up the spine, shoulders, arms, and legs with diverse but gentle movement. stretches should be kept within a comfortable range and without long holds.
this series was designed for pre-work farmers, field workers, laborers, and those with physically demanding occupations. on its own, the sequence would also be appropriate for populations with limited mobility.
movements should be performed dynamically with the breath. if time allows, begin with a few minutes of centered breathing and finish with seated relaxation.
