janae ernst has been teaching yoga since 2010. she completed her 100-hour training with amazing yoga and 200-hour certification with prairie yoga under head teachers tricia fiske and linda troutman. she served as a mentor in the yoga teacher training program at prairie for three years and worked to broaden her scope and knowledge with continuing education in areas of therapeutics and yoga for special populations.
her goal is to provide a safe space for transformative practice. students can expect a mix of movements from complementary modalities along with static and dynamic poses, combining traditional asana with mindful vinyasa. janae’s teaching style is light-hearted and breath-focused, and she loves to use props to support as well as challenge the body. each class is different and intelligently sequenced, with options to ease or to intensify based on a student’s needs and preferences.
with an academic background in science and a personal history of athletics and sports injuries, janae works to keep current with the latest research on safe movement practices and benefits of yoga techniques. her interests alongside yoga include biomechanics, mobility for aging populations, pain science, and therapeutic applications of meditation.
she teaches mat and chair yoga classes that are appropriate for all levels. private, semi-private, small group, and event class services are available.
outside of yoga, she holds a master’s degree in physics and works remotely for the chemical and materials science group at the advanced photon source at argonne national laboratory. she also volunteers part-time at providence organic farm and enjoys playing outside with her husband and little boy, emanuel.
